Release date confirmed for Da Vinci Code film
After much speculation, a release date has been decided for the film version of The Da Vinci Code.
Dan Brown's runaway bestseller will hit the cinemas worldwide on May 19th 2006.
The film is thought to have been given a specific release date so early due to the huge hype surrounding the book.
Colombia Studios will make the film with production starting in 2005 and the US and Europe.
Ron Howard (A Beautiful Mind, Wonderland) will direct the feature and Tom Hanks has been confirmed to play the character of symbologist Robert Langdon.
