Bertie Ahern to launch tribute to Maureen Potter

Be Delighted - A Tribute to Maureen Potter
An Taoiseach Bertie Ahern will join Deirdre Purcell at a special event next Tuesday November 9th at the Gaiety Theatre to pay tribute to the remarkable life and theatrical legacy of entertainment legend Maureen Potter.

The book, called Be Delighted, is in aid of the DSPCA, Maureen's favourite charity, and it is hoped that all 100 contributers will join An Taoiseach, Deirdre Purcell and Maureen's husband Jack O'Leary to the official launch.

Be Delighted published by New Island, contains 100 heartfelt tributes to Maureen Potter, and is fully illustrated with memorabilia and photographs from her varied and illustrious career.

Contributors include Bertie Ahern, Brendan Balfe, John Behan, Maeve Binchy, Dermot Bolger, Gay Byrne, Anthony Cronin, John Kavanagh, and Deirdre Purcell.

€1 from each copy sold will be donated to the DSPCA.

When Maureen Potter died on 7 April 2004, the tributes were as sincere as they were numerous and heartfelt. For Maureen Potter had shone in a myriad of worlds: whether whooping it up in Panto in the Gaiety, stretching her legs with 'straight' roles at the Gate or the Abbey, or surfing the laughter of cabaret nights in Clontarf, she proved she had mastered it all.

Rippling with anecdotes, memories and stories, Be Delighted promises to leave you as delighted as a vintage Potter audience.
