10/10/2004 Oscar Wilde lecture for RDS
To mark the 150th anniversary of Oscar Wilde's birth, his grandson Merlin Holland will give a lecture at the RDS.
The Wilde Family: The Aftermath - What ever happened to Oscar Wilde's Family? is part of the 2004 RDS Autumn Speaker Series and will take place in the RDS Library on Wednesday 13 October at 6pm.
The son of Vyvyan Holland, Oscar Wilde's youngest son, Holland is a writer and journalist who lectures and broadcasts regularly on all aspects of Wilde's life.
He is also the administrator of the few remaining copyrights in Wilde's writings.
Holland has edited and introduced the collected works of Wilde for the Folio Society and the enlarged 1999 Harper Collins Centenary Edition of The Complete Works of Oscar Wilde, which includes the best of Wilde's journalism.
He is the author of several books including The Wilde Album, Oscar Wilde, a Life in Letters and last year's Scarlet Marquess: the Real Trial of Oscar Wilde.
Holland's current work in progress - After Oscar - is a personal look at the hundred years after his grandfather's death and how Wilde's life works and fluctuating reputation have influenced the lives of so many people, not least his own family and descendants.
