12/10/2004 New Beatles book on sale
A new set of Beatles postcards and scribblings have been collected in a new book
by Ringo Starr.
Entitled Postcards From the Boys, it is part-autobiography, part Beatles
memorabilia and should delight Beatles fans with its quirky angle and lay
out.
It includes a postcards sent to Ringo from various band members and Starr
collated them with front and back images and messages, including his own
notation and comments.
One of the most bizarre entries is a postcard sent to Ringo from John Lennon
while he was in Japan meeting Yoko Ono's parents. The card reads: "Doing
nothing at all, The sea-slug has lived For eighteen thousand years."
This is version of the book follows last year's more expensive leather bound
version, limited to 2,500 copies and retailing for $495.
Starr had thought the postcards lost until they turned up in an old suitcase a couple of years back.
Royalties from the sale of this version of Postcards from the boys go to
social-welfare charity The Lotus Foundation.
