15/04/2004 Julian Barnes, Jan Morris for Cúirt Festival
Julian Barnes and Jan Morris are among the writers that will appear at the 19th Cúirt International Festival of Literature in Galway.
The annual festival celebrates the best in contemporary world literature with readings, seminars, debates and book launches taking place from Tuesday 20 to Sunday 25 April.
Barnes, twice nominated for the Booker Prize, will read from his recent works on Saturday 24 April as will journalist, travel writer, essayist, autobiographer and novelist Jan Morris.
Other authors that will attend the festival include Glaswegian novelist, essayist and Booker Prize winner James Kelman; the BBC Baghdad correspondent Rageh Omaar; Welsh novelist Trezza Azzopardi and innovative British novelist Maggie Gee.
RF Foster, the first Carroll Professor of Irish History at the University of Oxford and authorised biographer of WB Yeats, will give the Anne Kennedy Memorial Lecture entitled 'Uncomfortable Inheritances: Yeats' European Legacy' on Wednesday 21 April.
