Love letter from Dylan Thomas sold at auction

Dylan Thomas
A love letter written by Dylan Thomas was sold at auction in London yesterday for over €10,000.

The two-page letter to his fiancé Caitlin MacNamara was penned before their marriage on 11 July 1937.

A spokesperson for Sotheby's in London confirmed that the love letter had been bought by a private collector.

In the letter Thomas wrote that he loved his future wife "more than anyone has loved anyone else".

The letter was written in London's Great Ormond Street about a year after the couple had met.

Thomas goes on to say in the letter: "I love you, I can't tell you how much, I miss you until it hurts me terribly."
