18/08/2004 Easy Riders author to do Q&A at IFI
Peter Biskind, the author of essential movie book 'Easy Riders, Raging
Bulls', will launch his new book at the Irish Film Institute in Dublin with
a book signing and Q&A session on Monday 23 August.
'Down and Dirty Pictures: Robert Redford, Miramax and the Improbable Rise of
Independent Film' chronicles the rise of independent filmmakers and of the
two main reasons - the Sundance Film Festival and Miramax distributors - why
this happened.
As with 'Easy Riders...', Biskind profiles the people involved in taking the
independent film movement from obscurity to the Oscars, in particular
Sundance founder Robert Redford and Harvey Weinstein of Miramax.
The former executive editor of Premiere film magazine, Biskind is a
contributing editor at Vanity Fair and has written for The New York Times,
The Washington Post and Rolling Stone.
The Q&A session will take place at 5pm in Cinema Two after which Biskind
will meet with readers and sign copies of 'Down & Dirty Pictures' in the IFI
Bookshop.
Tickets are available from the IFI box office.
