21/10/2004 Hollywood stars line up for Jarhead
Jake Gyllenhaal, Jamie Foxx and Lucas Black are just three of the Hollywood stars that will be in the film adaptation of Anthony Swofford's 2003 memoir, Jarhead.
The book tells the story of a platoon of US Marines during the Gulf War.
With his father, grandfather and older brother having served in the US Marines, Swofford enlisted at the age of 18 in 1988.
Following the first Gulf War, he attended the University of California and the Iowa Writers' Workshop.
Jarhead, a term used to describe Marines, is Swofford's first book.
Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes is set to helm the film.
