Weir brings Gibson novel to screen

Peter Weir
'The Truman Show' helmer Peter Weir is set to direct an adaptation of William Gibson's book 'Pattern Recognition'.

Variety reports that the thriller tells the story of a marketing expert who is hired to discover the source of mysterious video footage on the Internet.

Weir will co-write the script with 'Spy Game' writer David Arata.

The director's most recent film was the Oscar-winning 'Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World'.
