25/03/2004 Seamus Heaney to do public interview
RTÉ Radio 1's Rattlebag will hold a public interview with Seamus Heaney at the Pavilion Theatre in Dun Laoghaire on Tuesday 30 March.
One of Ireland's best known poets, Heaney has been the recipient of several honorary degrees; he is a member of Aosdána and a Foreign Member of The American Academy of Arts and Letters.
In 1995 he was awarded Nobel Prize for Literature; the following year he was made a Commandeur de L'Ordre des Arts et Lettres by the French Ministry of Culture.
His translation of 'Beowulf', which went on to win the Whitbread Book of the Year prize, was published in 1999.
His most recent collection of poetry, 'Electric Light', came out in April 2001, followed by 'Finders Keepers', a selection of his prose, in 2002.
The interview, which will be broadcast on Rattlebag at a later date, will start at 8pm sharp.
