Ireland's most famous novelists turn out in force
The most famous faces in contemporary Irish writing will turn out in force and en-masse tomorrow to celebrate one of the most exciting literary projects of recent years.
Cathy Kelly, Patricia Scanlan, Gareth O'Callaghan, Maeve Binchy, Sheila
O'Flanagan, Deirdre Purcell, Dermot Bolger, Vincent Banville, Julie Parsons, and Rose Doyle will turn out to launch 'The Open Door Series' an innovative series of books aimed at adults learning to read, the brainchild of best-selling author Patricia Scanlan. Featuring writers as diverse as Roddy Doyle and Marian Keyes, Joe O'Connor and Tom Nestor, the series is one of Ireland's major international publishing success stories.
With her customary and persuasive charm, Patricia Scanlan has convinced
the cream of the crop of Irish writers to pen specially commissioned and totally original novels aimed, not just at the general reader, but at adults learning to read, teenagers with reading difficulties, and students of English.
The resulting OPEN DOOR series has been a mammoth success: with over 100,000 copies sold worldwide, the series is now celebrating its 5th year with a huge re-branding programme, and a party to celebrate at the Mansion House Dublin.
A host of famous faces will join Lord Mayor Councillor Michael Conaghan as Patricia Scanlan proudly re-launches the OPEN DOOR series.
