Best-Selling Author Arthur Hailey has died
Best-selling British author Arthur Hailey has died at his home in the Bahamas. He was 84.
Hailey, who wrote thrillers which included Hotel, The Moneychangers, Final Diagnosis and Airport, is believed to have had a stroke. He had already suffered a stroke two months previously.
He died in his sleep in his home on New Providence Island, according to a statement released by his wife Sheila.
"He had a wonderful life. His greatest ambition was to see his name on a book and he certainly achieved that," his wife said.
Hailey wrote 11 books in total, selling 170m copies worldwide. His books were translated to 38 languages and published in 40 countries.
Born on 5 April 1920, Hailey served as pilot in the Royal Air Force during World War II, before becoming a writer.
