Spike Lee to helm Ellroy thriller?

Ernest Hemingway
Spike Lee is in talks to direct 'The Night Watchman', a new thriller with an original screenplay by crime writing legend James Ellroy.

The Hollywood Reporter says that the film is described as being similar to Ellroy's book 'LA Confidential' and tells the story of a policeman who discovers that his redemption is in tackling corruption.

Brian De Palma is currently directing a big screen adaptation of Ellroy's murder classic 'The Black Dahlia'.

Lee's new film, 'She Hate Me', opened in the US yesterday.
