30/08/2004 IFI to host Maureen O'Hara tribute
A tribute to legendary Irish actress Maureen O'Hara will take place at the Irish Film Institute on Sunday 26 September.
O'Hara will be honoured for her contribution to international cinema with a screening of her first Hollywood film, the 1939 adaptation of 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame'.
She will be there to meet fans and sign copies of her autobiography, 'Tis Herself' (Townhouse), in the IFI Bookshop.
'Tis Herself' tells the story of the flame-haired Irish teenager who left Dublin and travelled to Hollywood to become one of the greatest stars of Hollywood's Golden Era.
In a career that spans over 60 years, O'Hara has starred in sixty films, including critically acclaimed classics such as 'The Quiet Man', 'Miracle on 34th Street' and 'How Green Was My Valley'.
Tickets for the event are available from the IFI box-office.
