Court date agreed for Da Vinci trial

On 27 February next year the High Court in London will see the start of a trial to decide whether The Da Vinci Code author Dan Brown stole his ideas from a work of non-fiction by historians Michael Baigent and Richard Leigh.

Baigent and Leigh, together with Henry Lincoln, who is not taking part in the claim due to ill-health, wrote The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail in 1982.

Their legal action has been brought against Brown's publishers, Random House.

Lawyers for Baigent and Leigh will argue that Brown took the notion of Jesus Christ having a child with Mary Magdalene from their book without acknowledgment.

Many people have already noticed that the name of one of the major characters in The Da Vinci Code, Sir Leigh Teabing, is an anagram of Leigh and Baigent.
