Brandon's Godfather script sold at auction
A script of The Godfather, with notes by Marlon Brando, has been sold for $ 312,800 at Christie's in New York.
Christie's played host to an auction of the late screen star's personal possessions this week, of which the script was the highlight of the sale.
The script, which sets a record for the highest bid for a film script at auction, was bought by an anonymous telephone bidder.
The previous record stood at $244,500 for Clark Gable s Gone With The Wind script.
The Godfather, which won Brando a second Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal of mafia kingpin Don Corleone in 1973, was adapted by Mario Puzo from his own novel.
A letter from Puzo, asking Brando if he would consider the role, also fetched a $132,000 from a private Florida collector.
