German fans translate Potter book
Thousands of German fans who were in too much of a hurry to wait for the official translation of the new Harry Potter book have translated the book in less than two days.
The group of translators were to impatient to wait the 77 days required by German translator Klaus Frtiz to officially translate the book, so they logged onto harry-auf-deutsch.de and finished the job in 45 hours.
To avoid legal threats the fans have pledged not to distribute the translation to any third parties.
The internet club is plastered with messages from members praising the idea.
The translation was completed by a number of different people ranging from students to a mechanic.
Carlsen the Harry Potter publishing house, is not impressed, spokeswoman Katrin Hogrebe told German news portal Netzeitung: "We would not cast judgment if we were talking about a group of people translating together in their kitchen."
She added that any violation of copyright laws would be legally acted upon.
