04/06/2005 Potter book duo charged with firearms offences
Two men have been charged with weapons offences after they allegedly tried to sell a stolen copy of the new Harry Potter book to the Sun newspaper in England.
On Friday morning Northamptonshire police received a call from John Askill, a Sun reporter, to say that someone was offering a stolen copy of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince for sale and that they had a gun.
Policemen descended upon Tresham Street in Kettering, Northants and arrested two men.
A police spokesman said: "We have charged a 37-year-old Kettering man with possession of an offensive weapon and with handling stolen property and a 19-year-old with theft and possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence."
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is JK Rowling's sixth book and will be released on 16 July.
