08/01/2005 Details of new BBC book show announced
As previously reported on Bibliofemme, more details have emerged of the BBC's new book club programme.
The show entitled Page Turners will be presented by Robert McCrum of the Observer and will feature authors Marian Keyes and Fay Weldon.
Keys and Weldon will feature on a panel of 12 judges with public reviewers, celebrity bookworms, publishers and the editor of UK book publication The Bookseller. The panel will be asked to select 24 books from a longlist of close to 70 books, which have been culled from a initial submission of 300 from publishers all over the UK.
Newsnight presenter Jeremy Vine will present the show that plans to feature three of each books weekly, which will be discussed by a writer or celebrity fan.
The show, which comes hot on the heels of TV book clubs like Oprah, Richard & Judy and RTE's The Afternoon Show will kick off this spring on BBC1.
