12/09/2005 Rolling Stone to publish Thompson note
American magazine Rolling Stone will publish a note written by author and gonzo journalist Hunter S Thompson four days before he committed suicide.
Thompson's official biographer Douglas Brinkley says in the accompanying article that the message, that was written to his wife Anita, may represent the last words committed by her husband to paper before he killed himself in February.
"No More Games. No More Bombs. No More Walking. No More Fun. No More Swimming. 67," Thompson wrote in the note which he titled Football Season Is Over.
"That is 17 years past 50. 17 more than I needed or wanted. Boring. I am always bitchy. No Fun - for anybody. 67.
"You are getting Greedy. Act your old age. Relax - This won't hurt." Thompson was a longtime Rolling Stone writer.
He shot himself four days later at his home in Aspen, Colorado, after weeks of pain from several different physical problems that included a broken leg and a hip replacement.
Last month, in accordance with his final wishes, Thompson's ashes were scattered by fireworks shot from a cannon in Woody Creek, Colorado.
