13/04/2005 Forest Whitaker to star in The Last King of Scotland
Forest Whitaker is to play Idi Amin, in the big screen adaptation of the award winning novel, The Last King of Scotland by Giles Foden.
The film will be directed by Oscar winner Kevin MacDonald who also directed One Day in September and Touching the Void.
The Last King of Scotland written by Giles Foden in 1998 and won the Whitbread Award, blends fact and fiction, telling the story of a Scottish doctor who becomes the personal physician to the Ugandan dictator Idi Amin.
Whitaker's previous film credits include, Phone Booth, Panic Room, The Crying Game and Platoon.
The Last King of Scotland has been in development since 1998 and filming is due to start this summer.
