13/09/2005 Brokeback Mountain takes gold at Venice Film Festival
Brokeback Mountain, the film adaptation of the E Annie Proulx novella, was the winner of the Golden Lion award at the Venice Film Festival on Saturday.
Directed by Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon's Ang Lee, the film stars Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal.
Brokeback Mountain tells the story of the love affair between two cowboys set in the conservative West of the 1960s.
Ledger and Gyllenhaal play a ranch hand and a rodeo cowboy who bond in the summer of 1963 and maintain their relationship even after they marry and have children.
