Tatty takes Irish publisher's award
Tatty, a novel by Christine Dwyer Hickey, has been named as Publishers' Book of the
Year.
This award was designed to recognise achievement in editing and Emma Dunne,
formerly Managing Editor at Tatty publisher New Island, was the winner.
Tatty also came up trumps for Joseph Hoban at New Island who won the Best Publicity Campaign Award for his work on the book.
The O'Brien Press got two awards for Something Beginning with P: New Poems from Irish Poets - Best Illustrated Book (Corrina Askin and Alan Clarke) and Best Overall Production (Emma Byrne, Ivan O'Brien, Natasha Mac a'Bháird).
'The Hook Peninsula', published by Cork University Press, was the winner of the Best Cover Design Award.
Earlier this year, the trade association for Irish book publishers - CLÉ - decided to establish the Industry Book Awards as an initiative to promote excellence in the industry.
They are aimed at the technical and creative aspects of book publishing.
Irish publishers submitted books for consideration in five categories and the shortlist was selected by a committee which included Maria Dickenson from Easons, Irish Independent Literary Editor John Spain and editor/author Niall MacMonagle.
Book publishers, librarians, writers, booksellers, freelance editors and illustrators then voted on the shortlist.
