Bill Cullen sets new world record

Golden Apples by Bill Cullen
Bill Cullen succeeded in breaking the Guinness World Record for the largest ever book signing in Easons, O'Connell Street, Dublin yesterday. The new world record set by Bill after a gruelling eleven hours signing copies of his new book Golden Apples is 1,849, 32 copies more then the previous record.

Crowds gathered throughout the day to meet Bill and get their copy of Golden Apples signed, to raise €10, 000 for the Irish Youth Foundation. Representatives from the Guinness World Records were present to count the number of books being signed and to ensure that all was in order. By the end of the day they were delighted to announce that Bill is now Guinness World Record Holder for the largest number of books signed by a single author in one sitting.

The people of Dublin came out in force to support one of their own but we also got visitors from every county in Ireland who came into O'Connell St to get their books signed. Some even came from as far away as Derry, Fermanagh and Co. Down. It's a great achievement and a new world record for Ireland said Bill Cullen

Martin Black, General Manager, of Easons, O'Connell St, commented; Although we've had a lot of high-profile signing sessions here over the years one of the largest that I can remember was that for Bills first book It's a Long Way From Penny Apples. Three years on, I am delighted that we have played a part in Bill securing the world record. The huge success of today's event just proves Bills popularity. He's one of the few who could pull it off!
