Depp to star in Thompson's The Rum Diary
Variety reports that Johnny Depp will star in the big screen version of author Hunter S Thompson's The Rum Diary.
Depp, who played Thompson in 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas', will again portray the author in the film, which will follow his experiences in Puerto Rico in the late 1950s.
Bruce Robinson, is due to direct and adapt the book for the big screen. According to Variety, Depp who is an executive producer on the film picked Robinson to direct.
Depp is currently filming the sequels to the Pirates of the Caribbean. Production on The Rum Diary will start as soon the sequels have been shot.
