19/01/2005 Peter Jackson to Direct Lovely Bones Adaptation
Peter Jackson has confirmed that he will direct and co-produce the film adaptation of The Lovely Bones, Alice Sebold's novel.
Jackson together with his partner Fran Walsh optioned the film rights from the UK Production company FilmFour. FilmFour will partner Jackson and Walsh in the Development of the project.
Lord of the Rings co-screenwriter Philippa Boyens is to adapt the script for the film.
The Lovely Bones, Sebold's first novel, is narrated from heaven by a young girl who has been murdered. It was a best seller in 2002.
Jackson will start work on the film when he has completed his remake of King Kong which is due to be released this December. The Lovely Bones film is set for release in 2007.
