Moments book raises €130,000 for tsunami victims

A Short History of Nearly Everything
A book by Irish writers and publishers - Moments: Irish Women Writers In Aid of the Tsunami Victims - has raised over €130,000 for the victims of the South East Asian disaster.

Some of Ireland's best-known writers, including Maeve Binchy, Cecelia Ahern, Kate Thompson and Sarah Webb, contributed to the book of short stories.

They all donated their stories free of charge.

Originally published last April by Irish Book Publishers' Association CLÉ, Moments entered the Irish bestseller charts at Number One after only a week of sales.

The publishers promised that every cent from the ?10 cover price would go to Irish development organisation GOAL in aid of the tsunami victims.

Last week project co-ordinators Ciara Considine of Hodder Headline Ireland and Joseph Hoban of New Island presented John O'Shea of GOAL with a cheque for €132,406.
