McKellen joins cast of Da Vinci Code

Ian McKellen
Ian McKellen has joined the cast of the big screen adaptation of Dan Brown's bestseller The Da Vinci Code.

McKellen will play the wealthy Sir Teabing. The much publicised film already has Tom Hanks and Audrey Tatou starring. Tom Hanks will play Harvard professor and symbologist Robert Langdon and Audrey Tatou will star alongside him as the cyrptologist Sophie Neveu.

Alfred Molina has been cast as Bishop Arigarosa with Jean Reno playing Bezu Fache, the captain of the French Police.

The film will be directed by Ron Howard - who won a Best Director Oscar for A Beautiful Mind.

Production on the film begins in June with a 19 May 2006 release scheduled.
