21/01/2005 Famous authors to raise tsunami funds
A collection of writing by various writers is to go on sale to raise money for the victims of the Asian tsunami.
The book is comprised of first chapters from forthcoming books from writers all over the world and will be published on World Book Day in March.
Among the authors contributing are Nobel laureate JM Coetzee, Ian McEwan, Stephen King, Paulo Coelho, Vikram Seth and Margaret Atwood.
Irish writers Maeve Binchy and Marian Keyes will also contribute to the collection.
Some exciting future work will appear including Alexander McCall Smith's opening chapter of Friends, Lovers, Chocolate, Mark Haddon's adult comedy Blood and Scissors, which is not due out until next year, and Nick Hornby's A Long Way Down.
The book will be published by Bloomsbury priced stg£5, with all proceeds going to the fund helping victims of the disaster.
