Margaret Atwood for 2005 Poetry Now Festival
The annual Poetry Now Festival will launch next Thursday March 31st in Dun Laoghaire in Dublin.
The festival is celebrating 10 years as one of the foremost Irish and international festivals devoted solely to poetry. PN05 features readings by American Pulitzer Prize Winner, C. K. Williams, Canadian literary icon Margaret Atwood, European poets Valerio Magrelli and Claude Esteban, U.K. poets Lavinia Greenlaw and Simon Armitage, and celebrated Irish poets including John Montague, Máire Mhac an tSaoi, Maurice Riordan, Rody Gorman, Conor O'Callaghan, Célia de Freine, Caitríona O'Reilly, Nick Laird and others.
Events over the weekend consist of readings, literary discussions, workshops, exhibitions, outreach programmes and, in association with the Irish Writers' Centre, Poetry Masterclasses with Lavinia Greenlaw, Conor O'Callaghan and Maurice Riordan.
Coinciding with the celebration of 10 years of Poetry Now in 2005, the inaugural Irish Times Poetry Now Award winner will be announced over the weekend, along with the Rupert and Eithne Strong Award.
