27/01/2005 Irish authors to raise money for tsunami
A collection of short stories by Irish women writers will be published to raise money for victims of the recent tsunami in Asia.
Entitled Moments: Short Stories by Irish Women Writers In Aid of the South-East Asia Tsunami Disaster Fund, the book will feature new short stories by Irish women writers.
Those already confirmed to contribute are Maeve Binchy, Deirdre Purcell, Patricia Scanlan, Sheila O'Flanagan, Catherine Dunne, Kate Thompson, Julie Parsons, Sarah Webb, June Considine, Patricia O'Reilly, Denise Deegan, Pauline McLynn and Suzanne Power.
CLÉ, the Irish Book Publishers' Association will publish the book which is a cross-industry initiative headed up by Ciara Considine of Hodder Headline Ireland and New Island's Joseph Hoban.
Moments: Short Stories by Irish Women will be published on April 26th, the four month anniversary of the disaster with all proceeds and royalties going to Irish charity Goal.
