30/09/2005 Renée Zellweger in Beatrix Potter biopic
American actress Renée Zellweger has signed up to play Beatrix Potter in a biopic of the celebrated children's author.
Cate Blanchett had previously been linked to the role the film which is to be called Miss Potter.
Beatrix Potter, who was born in London in 1866, was famous for entertaining generations of children with tales of Peter Rabbit, Squirrel Nutkin, Jemima Puddleduck, Tom Kitten and Mrs Tiggy-Winkle.
Her tales and drawings were inspired by her enormous collection of pets.
The partly animated film will examine Potter's struggle for independence in Victorian England.
Ewan McGregor is in talks to play Norman Warne, Potter's publisher and love interest.
The film will be helmed by Babe director Chris Noonan.
