Haitian writer wins short story prize
Haitian writer Edwidge Danticat has won the first Story Prize.
The prize is presented to an author of an outstanding collection of short stories and Danticat won for The Dew Breaker.
The book is also on the shortlist for the prestigious National Book Critics Circle award which will be announced in March.
Born in Haiti, Danticat came to the US with her family when she was 12 and published several acclaimed novels including the The Farming of Bones, which won an American Book Award and Krik? Krak!, a National Book Award finalist.
