Seamus Heaney nominated for Forward prize
Nobel Prize-winning Irish poet Seamus Heaney was nominated last week for a Forward Prize.
Heaney was shortlisted for his latest collection of poetry, District and Circle.
The Forward Poetry prizes - the UK's most valuable annual poetry competition - were created in 1991 to bring contemporary poetry to a wider audience.
There are five other nominees, including Kate Bingham, Robin Robertson, Penelope Shuttle, Paul Farley and Vicki Feaver.
The winner of the 10,000 prize will be announced in October.
The Forward shortlists for two other awards - Best First Collection, the winner of which will receive 5,000, and Best Single Poem (worth 1,000) - were also announced.
