Two Irish authors on 2006 IMPAC shortlist

Two Irish authors are on the shortlist for the 2006 IMPAC Dublin Literary Award.

Ronan Bennett's Havoc, In Its Third Year and The Master by Colm Tóibín are among the ten books in the running for the world's most valuable literary prize.

Dublin-born Margaret Mazzantini, who now lives in Rome, is also among the writers shortlisted for her book Don't Move.

Don't Move, which was translated from the Italian by John Cullen, is one of three books which are translations.

Cullen also translated Yasmina Khadra's The Swallows of Kabul from the French and Jens Christian Gr ndahl's An Altered Light was translated from the Danish by Anne Born.

The winner of the 2006 IMPAC Dublin Literary Award will be named on 14 June in Dublin.
