Mystery of author JT LeRoy revealed
In the wake of the revelation that parts of James Frey's memoirs were
invented, another long-running literary hoax has been exposed with a central
figure in the case of the mysterious US author JT Leroy confirming that the

The books published under the LeRoy name were actually written by a
40-year-old woman San Francisco woman, Laura Albert.
Geoffrey Knoop, Albert's partner of the past 16 years, told The New York
Times that the whole situation "got to a level where I didn't expect."

were hurt."
LeRoy, the supposed author of the biographical Sarah, was supposed to be a
HIV-positive former drug addict and ex-male prostitute.
LeRoy was fêted by the literary elites of New York and California as well as
celebrities including Bono, Tom Waits and Winona Ryder.
