Irvine Welsh to introduce film at the IFI

Irvine Welsh
Scottish novelist and screenwriter Irvine Welsh will take part in a new event at the Irish Film Institute in Dublin where filmmakers and screen-writers are asked to choose their favourite film, introduce the screening, and give a public interview afterwards.

Welsh will introduce Charles Laughton's Night of the Hunter and discuss it afterwards on Sunday 19 March.

Welsh, whose novels include Trainspotting, The Acid House and Porno, is planning to direct the film The Man Who Walks when shooting finishes on his latest screenplay Meat Trade, currently in production in Scotland.

The screening and interview about Night of the Hunter, which stars Robert Mitchum and Shelley Winters, will take place at 4pm on March 19 in the IFI.

Bookings can be made through the IFI website at: www.irishfilm.ie/welsh
