13/06/2006 Tóibín's The Master wins the IMPAC Dublin Literary Award
Colm Tóibín has become the first Irish author to win the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award for his novel The Master.
The Master was also nominated for the Booker Prize in 2004.
Commenting on his win, the Dublin-based novelist said: "It is absolutely wonderful, I mean it's great just because there are people in the past who have won this prize whose books have really mattered to me."
The ten shortlisted titles for this year's award were selected from a long list of 132 novels, nominated by public libraries in 43 countries.
