Fincher to direct graphic novel adaptation Torso
Seven and Fight Club director David Fincher is set to helm Torso, a thriller
based on a graphic novel written by Brian Michael Bendis and Marc Andrey-ko,
and drawn by Bendis in the late 1990s.
Torso is based on the true story of Elliot Ness and the Torso Killer murders
in 1930s Cleveland.
Federal agent Elliot Ness wrote 1957 non-fiction bestseller The Untouchables
about his battle with the Capone Mob in Chicago.
After Capone's arrest, Ness was appointed Cleveland city safety director in
1935 to clean up the scandal-ridden police department.
He turned their force into one of the most modern, efficient and respected
departments in the world.
On his watch torsos began appearing in the river, and Ness received notes
taunting him to catch the killer.
Ness then put together a team of ex-officers, The Unknowns, to apprehend
America's first serial murderer.
The graphic novel is being adapted by Ehren Kruger, whose credits include
'The Ring' and 'The Ring Two,' 'The Skeleton Key' and 'Arlington Road.'
