Easy Rawlins for another big screen outing
Walter Mosley's Easy Rawlins novel, Little Scarlett, is to be adapted for the big screen, starring Mos Def and Jeffrey Wright.
The 2004 thriller - a murder mystery that takes place in Los Angeles after the Watts Riots of 1965 - is one of several books in Mosley's detective series that follows private investigator Easy Rawlins and his sidekick, Mouse.
In Little Scarlett, white police hire Rawlins in the wake of the racially-charged riots to investigate the murder of a black woman.
Rawlins and Mouse were played by Denzel Washington and Don Cheadle in the 1995 film version of his book Devil in a Blue Dress and 1998's Always Outnumbered, Always Outgunned starred Laurence Fishburne.
