Adi Roche launches book on Chernobyl disaster

Chernobyl Children's Project International (CCPI) Executive Director Adi Roche has launched a book to mark the twentieth anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster.

'Chernobyl Heart - Twenty Years On' documents the terrible physical, emotional and psychological trauma that the tragedy caused.

It detailing the struggles of the early days of the CCPI and tells both of Roche's personal battle to win the hearts and minds of locals and governments, and the story of the survivors.

At the launch Roche warned world governments not to resort to nuclear energy if oil-supplies begin to dwindle.

Fellow campaigner Ali Hewson says that the book was a timely reminder of the dangers of nuclear activity.

Over the past 15 years Chernobyl Children's Project International has delivered over ?60m of aid to the devastated region.
