John McGahern and Seamus Heaney are to take part in the 2006 Dublin Writers Festival, which takes place from Wednesday 14 June to Sunday 18 June.
A total of 40 Irish and international poets and writers will feature in events, including readings, lectures, panel discussions and public interviews.
The complete programme will be made public in early May but some of the highlights include lectures by John Carey and Ziauddin Sardar; readings by Nancy Huston, Thomas Lynch and Rita Ann Higgins; and public interviews featuring Roddy Doyle, Anne Enright, and Colm Tóibín.
Children's events will involve Whitbread Children's Book Award winner Kate Thompson and John Boyne and there will also be a special event with fantasy writers from Wales, Finland, Spain and Poland; fiction and poetry workshops; and a book fair.
Full details of these and all other events will be online at www.dublinwritersfestival.com from early May.
