Irish girl for role in The Spiderwick Chronicles
Sarah Bolger, who starred in Jim Sheridan's In America, has been cast opposite Freddie Highmore (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Finding Neverland) in a film adaptation of The Spiderwick Chronicles.
The best-selling children's books by Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizzi are about the three Grace children who move to the ancient Spiderwick mansion.
There they discover Brownie, an enchanted creature who introduces them to a world of goblins, fairies and sprites.
Highmore will play twin brothers Jared and Simon while Bolger will take the role of their sister Mallory.
The film, which will be directed by Mark Waters (Mean Girls, Freaky Friday), is scheduled to start production in Montreal on 12 September.
